She Reads Truth {a reflection on Galatians}

My daily bible study comes from the YouVersion Bible App and She Reads Truth. Currently we are finishing Ephesians but I wanted to reflect on what I learned and am still learning from our previous study in Galatians…

Chapter 1

There is NO other Gospel (v7)

If I were still trying to please men then I would not be a servant of Christ (v10)

We need to remain steadfast in Christ, don’t give up so quickly. He is the source of Life, the author of the World and the original Creator, an Artist of Artists.

Chapter 2

I have been entrusted with the gospel (v7)

Remember the Poor (v10)

All people are different but equal in God’s eyes, we were all created by Him and given grace to share the promise of life through Christ. Only He knows the importance of every person, we need to look past the things of Man and focus on the things of God. We are only justified in Christ by faith not our fulfilling of the Law.

Chapter 3

it is those of FAITH who are the sons of Abraham (v7)

Don’t fight against grace,

embrace it in faith.

The World says, ” Do THIS and we will love you”

God says,”Believe. i love you.”

The righteous live by FAITH. Habakkuk 2:4

Why are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? 3:3

Christ overcomes our past, revealing Himself to us. He stopped the never-ending-always-loosing game with the Law, and He won. We can NEVER get to heaven by works, or being a good person or karma, only by our FAITH in Christ.

Memory Verse:

I have been crucified with Christ.

It is no longer i who LIVE but CHRIST who lives in me.

And the life I now live in the flesh I live by FAITH in the Son of God,

who loved me and gave himself for me.

2:20

Chapter 3 continued…

God made a promise to Abraham, and gave us the Law until Christ could come…and now that He has come the Law is void.

For as many of you were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither, Jew nor Greek, there is no Slave or Free, there is no Male or Femalethere is no black or white, there is no dog person or cat person, there is no democrat or republican, there is no rich or poor, there is no gay or straight…for you are all ONE in Christ Jesus. AND if you are Christ’s then you are Abraham’s offspring, heir’s according to the promise.

3:27-29 {with additions by me}

As a Christ follower our worldly ‘labels’ no longer apply…thanks be to God!

Chapter 4

God set forth his Son to be born of a woman, born under the Law, to redeem those who were under the Law so that we might receive adoption (v4-5)

God sent the Holy Spirit into our hearts crying out,

ABBA! Father!

I am no longer a slave to my past, to my emotions, to my future, to my imagination. I am a {daughter} of God crying out to Him. (v7) Don’t become so like the world that no one knows that you are a daughter of God. be a Shining testament to HIS glory in your life. Yes, we have faults but He overlooked them and adopted us.

God’s grace is good enough. We no longer have to make human attempts to get to heaven. We are the children born through the PROMISE. Stop acting like the Children of Hagar and know that we have God’s grace, love and mercy.

Chapter 5

Christ has FOREVER freed us from the yoke of slavery to sin (v1)

There is NO separation of man in Christ Jesus but only FAITH working through LOVE (v6)

DO NOT use your freedom as an opportunity to sin, but use it in LOVE to serve one another.

You shall love your neighbor as yourself

Leviticus 19:18

The desires of the flesh are selfish and hurt others emotionally and physically…

Fruits of the Spirit; love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control (v22-23)

The things of the Spirit are humbling and make the heart ache. One of the things that make my heart ache are the children in Batey 50 in the Dominican Republic…thank you UBC for being faithful to those children.

Memory Verse:

And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good work to everyone and especially those who are in the household of faith.

6:9-10

Chapter 6

Restore one another in a Spirit of gentleness (v1)

Bear one another’s burdens (v2)

Whatever one sows, that will he also reap (v7)

Boost in the work of the cross! Proclaim my freedom as a daughter of God! Love one another as Christ loved me!

I will be blogging about my experience through Ephesians in the next few weeks…join us on the YouVersion Bible App or Instagram @SheReadsTruth #SheReadsTruth
